Warm apple porridge

Ingredients

  • 3/4 C rolled oats

  • 200ml milk of your choice

  • A dash of water if you need it

  • 1 apple (half grated to add to the porridge, the other half diced for on top)

  • 1 tsp cinnamon (for in the porridge, then a dash for on top to serve)

  • 1 Tbsp runny honey (or maple syrup)

  • Pinch of salt

  • Small handful of roasted almonds, chopped to garnish


Directions

In a pot combine the oats, milk, grated apple and cook over a medium heat to bring to the boil, then reduce. Keep stirring the whole time. Add water in if needed, then add cinnamon, honey and salt. Once the oats are thick and creamy, split between two bowls. Top the porridge with the diced apple, chopped up almonds and a sprinkle of cinnamon. You could add a blob of your favourite yoghurt too if you wanted. A warm, filling breakfast to keep you going through your busy day. Yum!
