All about Vitamin C

At this time of year, with lots of bugs flying around, Vitamin C is one essential vitamin that your body needs. Your body can’t produce it on it’s own, yet it has been linked to impressive health benefits. It is a powerful anti-oxidant that can help strengthen your body’s natural defense.

It’s water-soluble and found in many fruits and vegetables, including oranges, strawberries, kiwi fruit, bell peppers, broccoli, kale, and spinach. While it’s commonly advised to get your vitamin C intake from foods, many people turn to supplements to meet their needs. Especially during the colder months, when bugs are around.

The recommended daily intake for vitamin C is 75 mg for women and 90 mg for men.

I am pretty careful when choosing a vitamin c for the kids, as some of the chewy gummy type ones are actually full of sugar. So make sure you’re reading the ingredients before you buy them, or if you are unsure go to a health food shop where they can recommend a good quality vitamin. Rather than just the cheaper supermarket ones.

Each to their own when choosing which supplements and vitamins to take (if any). But Vitamin C is one that our whole family takes during the winter! I hope you found this helpful. Sarah X
