Lockdown Nutrition

Hi ladies,

Here we go again, with New Zealand back in Level 4 lockdown. Damn you Covid!

Now more than ever, we should be focusing on nourishing our bodies with delicious, healthy foods. If your kids are anything like mine, they are wanting to BAKE. Baking is great to keep them occupied, however an abundance of unhealthy, sugary treats in your house may not be too good for the waistline.

Jump into our recipes and print off some healthier treat options for them to bake. Here are my suggestions, that the kids will love, and you will love eating them too!

Popcorn bars - Easy to make, and way better for you than a store bought popcorn bar

Healthier Rice Bubble Bars - Yummier and much healthier than the white sugar, sickly traditional version

Choc Weetbix Slice - Easy to make in the food processor, and freezes well. The whole family will love this slice. If you don’t have rice malt syrup, you can use honey (maybe not quite as much as it’s sweeter. If the mixture binds together then you’ve probably used enough).

Search the TREATS section in our website to find these recipes. Print them out, and add the ingredients to your next online shopping order. If you are a farming mum, these treats are far better for you than a chocolate bar, if you’re after a bit of a pick me up.

Happy baking ladies! Stay safe everyone. Sarah xx
